Exchange Ilford Safety Day 2025 👷🦺
On Tuesday 30th September, we’re hosting our Centre Safety Day – a day dedicated to celebrating and strengthening our commitment to safety across the Centre. This event is designed for everyone guests, retailers, service partners, contractors, and staff — because safety is a shared responsibility.
From 1:00pm – 5:00pm in Mid Centre, there will be a variety of safety-focused stands, engaging activities, and competitions (include Safety Scavenger Hunt and Safety Trivia Quiz). Visitors are warmly invited to take part, share their own safety tips, and help us promote a culture of safety in their own way.
We’re proud to be working with a wide range of valued partners who will be joining us to showcase their expertise and highlight safety initiatives that make a difference every day including Redbridge Council, Ilford BID, Don’t Waste, Bidvest, LFB and the Met Police.
This year we’re also launching the Safety Award for Safe Retailer of the Year, which recognises retailers who go above and beyond in maintaining a safe environment for their teams and customers. Entries will be judged against the following key topics:
- Reducing Risks – Management of Contractor Safety Standards.
- Slips, Trips, and Falls – prevention in the Retailer Demise
- Back of House Safety – tidiness, safe stock heights, sterile electrical cupboards etc
- Sustainability in Safety – achieving an EPC rating of C or above or other ESG achievements
These areas highlight how safety and wellbeing extend beyond the shop floor, covering everything from day-to-day operations to long-term environmental responsibility.
A message from Kieran Meikle, Centre Operations Manager:
“Safety is at the heart of everything we do. Whether it’s for our colleagues, customers, contractors, or visitors, maintaining a strong safety culture ensures that everyone can enjoy the Centre with confidence. Safety isn’t just a checklist — it’s about behaviours, attitudes, and a shared commitment to protecting each other. Safety Day is an opportunity to showcase the great work already happening, invite participation from across our community, and continue strengthening our culture of care. I encourage everyone to get involved, whether that’s through the activities on the day, the Safety Award, or by simply sharing your own approach to keeping safe.”
