At Exchange Ilford, we’re dedicated to making every visit comfortable and inclusive by offering a range of thoughtfully designed facilities, from accessible toilets and Changing Places facility to mobility support services and sensory-friendly provisions, so all guests can enjoy their time with ease and confidence.
Toilets
Level 1 Restrooms: Features accessible toilets that are available for all users.
Level 3 Restrooms: Includes a dedicated restroom for individuals with disabilities, as well as accessible toilets in the NHS facilities on this level. Please note that the NHS accessible toilets are not open on weekends.
Both levels boast colourful, clean, and safe toilet facilities for all, and they are easily accessible from all entrances. Lifts are available at every entry point and mid-centre for your convenience.
Parent & Child
As a family-oriented shopping centre, we take pride in offering state-of-the-art toddler toilets, changing tables, and parent-and-baby facilities that cater to the needs of our youngest visitors.
We understand that little ones can get uncomfortable, whether it’s time for a nappy change or a moment of peace to feed a baby. That’s why our parent-and-baby rooms on Level 1 are designed with your comfort in mind.
These rooms feature:
– Private feeding areas for discreet nursing
– Soft seating for your relaxation
– Play areas to keep little ones entertained
Changing Places
We are also proud to offer the borough’s only “Changing Places” facility, which includes advanced specialised equipment designed to provide additional support and independence. This facility features a height-adjustable sink, toilet, and bed, along with a privacy screen and a hoist for ease of use.
Each Changing Places toilet offers:
– Specialised Equipment – A height-adjustable, adult-sized changing bench, and a tracking hoist system.
– Ample Space – A centrally positioned toilet with space on both sides and a privacy screen or curtain.
– A Safe, Clean Environment – Includes a wide tear-off paper roll to cover the bench, a large waste bin for disposable pads, and a non-slip floor for added safety.
These features ensure a comfortable and dignified experience for all users.
Shopmobility
Shopmobility facilitates easier mobility in Exchange Ilford by offering:
– Powered wheelchairs and scooters for use around the town centre for anyone with mobility difficulties.
– Manual wheelchairs are also available for holiday hire.
– Escort services may be provided to assist you, available by appointment only.
Pricing:
– £2 for members (with a £10 annual membership fee)
– £5 for non-members
– Long-term loans are available for manual wheelchairs only.
Once registered, a member of the staff will discuss your requirements and help you choose a vehicle you feel comfortable using. Staff will provide training, and once you feel confident and the staff is satisfied with your control of the vehicle, you can begin your journey!
Quiet Hour
Our weekly Quiet Hour takes place every Tuesday from 9am – 10am to create a more welcoming environment for guests with sensory sensitivities, autism spectrum conditions and mental health conditions like anxiety.
During the Quiet Hour, there will be no music playing, no tannoy announcements (except in the event of an emergency) and the lights will be dimmed wherever possible to create a calmer atmosphere.

Wi Fi
Here at Exchange Ilford we have Free Wi-Fi available! When trying to connect all you will need to do is select Exchange Ilford free Wi-Fi and sign up with an email address and make a password.
Sunflower Lanyards
Sunflower Lanyards are universally recognised symbols designed for individuals with hidden disabilities. Wearing one signals that assistance may be needed.
Official sunflower lanyards can be found in the Guest Lounge located on Level 1.
